Studio Class Descriptions

Earliest Ballet Class: Mommy & Me Classes (Ages 1-2) This class is designed to give you and your toddler a creative, fun way to dance together in the dance studio and at home. It’s a wonderful introduction to creative movement, improvisation, and rhythm. These wee ones will have a safe, fun, and exciting introduction to dance, music & rhythm basic comprehension of movement choreographed to music. This class helps develop fine and gross motor skills that are so important for development and also creates in children a curiosity and excitement for dance. Please note: This class requires an adult remain with the child.

Pre-Ballet Class (Ages 3-4): This dance class is designed to give your young children a fun, wonderful introduction to dance and strong foundation in classical ballet technique with an emphasis on musicality, rhythm, and placement. In this class, students will refine their skills in marching, skipping and leaping, and learn short ballet combinations and choreography. This ballet class is appropriate for children new to ballet and those with previous ballet experience. Parents will be notified of observation days to see their child’s progress.

Ballet Preparatory Class (Ages 4-5): This ballet class provides comprehensive dance training. There is an emphasis on developing core strength through proper alignment and posture. These are all necessary building blocks to ensure a child’s safety as choreography becomes more sophisticated. Through repetition and encouragement, students will build an understanding of the fundamental principles of ballet. Each child will be encouraged to reach her or his highest potential. Parents will be notified of observation days to see their child’s progress.

Private Special Needs Dance Class (all ages): This dance class is designed to support toddlers and children with special needs in a private class designed to help them have fun while learning to dance at their own pace and with special attention to their particular physical challenges. Ballet Choreography Performance Workshop (K-4th grade) By Invitation Only: This is a technique and choreography workshop designed to build performance skills in young dancers. The dancers learn how to create their own choreography and make up dances that are presented for parents.  Admission to this class is by invitation only. Please contact Jacqueline to discuss whether this is an appropriate placement for your child. Parents will be notified of observation days to see their child’s progress.

Adult Beginning/Beginning Intermediate Ballet: (Offered privately) This class is a supportive introduction for adults exploring ballet for the first time, or for those returning to ballet. The goal of this ballet class is to allow students to experience the joy, strength, and grace of classical ballet in an inspiring environment infused with classical music. With no more than ten students, classes are individually focused and allow for ample personal attention.
